Building a tradition of musical excellence

Orchestra

The North Olmsted Symphony Orchestra rehearses every day and has an enrollment of approximately 60 musicians.  All of the string players from grades 9-12 perform in this ensemble, and members of the wind and percussion section are added to the group based upon an audition and/or director recommendation in the previous spring.  The ensemble explores a wide variety of musical literature spanning historical periods from the Renaissance era through modern day, as well as representing a wide variety of Western and non-Western cultures.  In addition, students are given opportunities to perform symphony orchestra, string orchestra, and chamber ensemble literature.  NOSO performs in at least four concerts annually at NOHS and has earned superior ratings at state and national adjudicated events.
